Quinoa/Rice

How to Make Quinoa/Rice?

Quinoa is a gluten-free, high-protein seed that has been around for thousands of years. It was originally cultivated in the Andean region of South America and can be found all over the world today.

This grain is also rich in minerals like magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, and other essential vitamins that will keep you healthy. Quinoa is linked to weight loss as well due to its low glycemic index rating of 32.

With all these benefits combined, it’s no wonder quinoa has become one of the most popular grains over the last few years.

Quinoa can be used in many ways – from substituting rice or pasta dishes to adding an extra boost of protein to salads, soups, or desserts! You can turn it into flour also to prepare bread, pasta, or waffles!

Ingredients

Here is a delicious way to cook this versatile superfood with white rice:

  • 2 cups of quinoa
  • 1 cup of white rice(or quinoa)
  • 2 tablespoons of avocado oil
  • 1 large tablespoon of ground garlic
  • 3 cups of water or chicken broth
  • 3 teaspoons of salt
  • Parsley to taste

Preparation

  1. Wash the quinoa and rice separately and drain them well.
  2. Toast the quinoa lightly until the extra moisture has evaporated.
  3. Make a spot on the pot, and add 1 tablespoon of oil and garlic. Cook it for just one minute.
  4. Add white rice, hot water or chicken broth, and salt. Stir well.
  5. Wait until the quinoa/rice starts to boil. Lower the temperature heat to the minimum and cover the pot tightly. Cook for 20-23 minutes.
  6. After that, check if the quinoa/rice has cooked to perfection. In case it’s still a bit hard, sprinkle some water on top and cover the pot.
  7. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes. Check and stir well.
  8. Turn off the stove and add the chopped parsley. Drizzle a little olive oil before serving it hot.
  9. Present the plate with oven-roasted chicken, salmon or beef, avocado slices, or your favorite salad.
